DESTINATION INFORMATION
'The American Dream'
From the days of the Founding Fathers, travellers and emigrants have arrived on American soil with their dreams of a future, and all have played a part in creating this unique country. A land of breathtaking diversity from the Atlantic to the Pacific, from the sultry Deep South to the cowboy-country of the northern states, and the vast open spaces often found inbetween.
It’s impossible to put into a few paragraphs all America has to offer. Because of it’s size, we’ll divide the country into East Coast and West Coast as this is where the majority of the sports we’re interested in are based.
New York is still the place everyone wants to see on their itinerary … the energy and exhilaration, the Manhattan skyline and the New Yorkers all blend together to make this a ‘must see’ destination. Washington offers culture, Philadelphia, history, and Boston, a small-town atmosphere that is totally charming.
Over on the west coast, the ‘Golden State’ of California is now the most populous and diverse in the country. Los Angeles, the ‘City of the Angels’, is eternally glamorous, and offers entertainment unsurpassed almost anywhere else in the world. With everything from the exclusive shopping on Rodeo Drive to the Disney Theme Park, the beach suburbs of Santa Monica to the Hollywood Hills, there’s something here for everyone.
San Francisco, the City by the Bay, is a place of natural beauty and man-made wonders. Set on a series of hills rolling down to the harbour area, the whole city offers fun, excitement, culture and history.
Las Vegas has themed hotels, casinos and ‘The Strip’, and for first time visitors, an excursion to the Grand Canyon is not to be missed.

TRAVEL
The North Atlantic is probably the most aggressive flight market in the world. The cheaper airlines will be those who don’t have a major presence and use London as a stop off point from their home country.
The Californian market has an extra edge to it as the mainly east coast airlines offer connecting flights via their main hub. This extends your travelling time considerably, and we don’t think it is worth the money.
Our preference has always been to use British Airways as we are their only sports travel partner. They are the best not only on the ground but also in the air.
Non-stop flight schedules to the east coast are:
-
British Airways ~ From London Heathrow to New York (JFK and Newark) several times daily; to Boston three times daily; to Washington (Dulles and Baltimore) three times daily; and to Philadelphia twice daily.
-
Virgin Atlantic ~ From London Heathrow to New York (JFK and Newark) several times daily; and to Boston and Washington once daily each.
Non-stop flight schedules to the west coast are:
-
British Airways ~ From London Heathrow to San Francisco twice daily, and to Los Angeles three times daily.
-
Virgin Atlantic ~ From London Heathrow to San Francisco once daily and to Los Angeles, twice daily.

ACCOMMODATION
Billetting is particularly successful in the United States and is available throughut the country for school groups, depending on the sport. It is the standard method of accommodation for our school sports tours to the US.
Below are typical examples of the hotel accommodation we can offer in the major U.S. cities, and with which we've used very successfully in the past.
- Boston ~ The Radisson Hotel, Cambridge
- New York City ~ The Ameritania Hotel
- Washington DC ~ The Hotel Harrington
- San Francisco ~ The Pickwick Hotel
- Los Angeles ~ The Huntley Hotel, Santa Monica; or accommodation situated close to Disneyland, Anaheim
For more information on the above-listed hotels, please see the Accommodation section for the relevant city.
Groups normally visit Las Vegas as an add-on as an opportunity to see the glitz of Las Vegas or to see a show, or perhaps to visit the Grand Canyon or to some other sightseeing within the mid-west region. Accommodation is chosen to suit your requirements.
